Three weeks ago I stopped trying to be interesting to everyone.

I picked one person. One situation. One result I could actually deliver. I wrote it down in one sentence and I put it everywhere. Profile. Content. The way I open every email I send.

I did not launch anything new. I did not redesign anything. I did not post more.

The first thing that changed was the replies.

Before, replies were rare. When they came they were vague. "Great post." "Really helpful." Nothing that told me whether the right person was reading.

After, the replies got specific. People started describing their exact situation back to me. "This is literally where I am right now." "I have been doing exactly what you described." That is the signal that the positioning is working. The right person recognizes themselves.

The second thing that changed was how easy the content got to write.

When you do not know who you are writing for, every post is a negotiation. You are trying to be relevant to too many different people at once. You water everything down trying not to exclude anyone. The result is content that does not land for anyone.

One specific person in one specific situation. Every post writes itself. You are just describing what they are experiencing and showing them the next step.
