You're getting likes. Comments. Reposts. Maybe your follower count is climbing.
And still, nobody's hiring you. Nobody's buying. The DMs and replies you get are "great post" and "so true" and nothing that ends with money changing hands.
This is more common than anyone admits, and it has a specific cause that isn't your niche, your price, your posting frequency, or your platform choice.
The cause is this: attention and demand are different signals, and most creators are building one while needing the other.

Beehiiv 101 Quick Launch Guide
This guide shows how to launch fast, set up revenue correctly, and avoid the traps that stall 90% of beginners. No fluff. No aesthetics obsession. No fake “grow first” advice. This is the shortes...
What Attention Actually Means
When someone likes your post, they're saying: "I find this interesting."
When someone buys from you, they're saying: "I trust you to solve a specific problem I have right now."
Those are two completely different relationships. Attention is cheap to earn. You can get it with a relatable complaint, a hot take, a well-timed observation. Demand requires something attention never asks for: specificity about who you help, what you solve, and what happens on the other side.
The content that earns the most engagement is usually the broadest. "Stop working so hard and start working smart." Thousands of likes. Zero new clients, because nobody knows what that means in the context of hiring you.
The content that generates clients is usually the narrowest. "If you're a freelance designer with three clients and no referral system, here's the exact email I'd send today." Half the likes. Triple the DMs.
Most people optimize for the first kind because it feels like progress. The number goes up. The algorithm rewards it. The dopamine hits.
The second kind feels risky because it excludes people. But exclusion is exactly what creates demand. When someone reads a piece of content and thinks "this was written for me specifically," they don't just engage. They buy.
How Jennifer Aniston’s LolaVie brand grew sales 40% with CTV ads
The DTC beauty category is crowded. To break through, Jennifer Aniston’s brand LolaVie, worked with Roku Ads Manager to easily set up, test, and optimize CTV ad creatives. The campaign helped drive a big lift in sales and customer growth, helping LolaVie break through in the crowded beauty category.
The Visibility Gap
Here's the framework. Call it the Visibility Gap.
Most creators exist at Level 1: General Awareness. People know you exist. They vaguely remember your name. They follow you because you post consistently about a topic they care about.
Level 2 is Specific Recognition. People know what you do, who you do it for, and roughly what it would cost or look like to work with you. They could describe your offer to a friend in one sentence.
Level 3 is Active Consideration. People are watching you because they're close to a decision. They save your posts. They revisit your profile. They're waiting for the moment to feel right.
Almost all engagement happens at Level 1. Almost all revenue happens at Level 3.
The jump from Level 1 to Level 3 doesn't happen automatically with more content. It happens when your content shifts from broad observation to specific signal. When it says, implicitly or explicitly: "I help this kind of person with this specific thing, and here's proof I know what I'm doing."
You don't move someone from awareness to consideration by being interesting. You move them by being precise.
Why This Is Hard to Fix
The reason most creators stay stuck at Level 1 is that broad content is more comfortable to make. Specific content requires you to commit. To say "this is who I help" means saying "and this is who I don't."
That feels like losing audience. It's actually how you build one that pays.
In poker, there's a concept called pot commitment. Once you've invested enough in a hand, the math changes and folding costs more than continuing. A lot of creators are pot-committed to a broad content strategy that felt smart early on. Changing it means admitting the engagement was never going to convert.
It was never going to convert. The sooner you know that, the faster you fix it.
The Free Tool
Before tomorrow's article, do this one thing.
Go to your profile. Find your three most-engaged posts from the last 60 days. For each one, answer: if someone read only this post and nothing else, would they know what to buy from you, or what to do next?
If the answer is no for all three, you have your diagnosis. Your content is building awareness for a business that hasn't shown up yet.
That's fixable. Tomorrow we'll cover the one-platform rule and why spreading thin is the specific mechanism keeping you invisible.
Your ads ran overnight. Nobody was watching. Except Viktor.
One brand built 30+ landing pages through Viktor without a single developer.
Each page mapped to a specific ad group. All deployed within hours. Viktor wrote the code and shipped every one from a Slack message.
That same team has Viktor monitoring ad accounts across the portfolio and posting performance briefs before the day starts. One colleague. Always on. Across every account.
Your Micro-Action
Take your single best-performing post from the last 30 days. The one with the most engagement.
Now rewrite the last two lines to include a specific signal about who you help or what you solve. Don't change the post. Just add two lines at the end.
Post both versions this week. Compare replies, not likes.
The version that gets fewer likes but more "wait, do you help people like me" responses is the direction your content needs to go.
